Education is the cornerstone of a progressive society, empowering individuals to achieve their dreams and contribute meaningfully to society. Recognizing the significance of education, the Government of Gujarat launched the Chief Minister Scholarship Scheme (CMSS) on 4th February 2022. This initiative aims to provide financial support to meritorious and economically disadvantaged students pursuing higher education. 

Overview of the CMSS Scholarship

The Chief Minister Scholarship Scheme is a flagship initiative of the Government of Gujarat, offering financial assistance to students from various categories, including Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC), and Minorities.

The scholarship covers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional courses, enabling students to pursue their educational aspirations.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the CMSS Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

a. Domicile: 

Applicants must be permanent residents of Gujarat, possessing a valid domicile certificate.

b. Educational Qualifications: 

For undergraduate courses, candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination, while for postgraduate and professional courses, they must hold a relevant bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution.

c. Income Limit: 

The annual family income of applicants should not exceed a specified threshold, as determined by the government.

d. Merit-Based: 

Scholarships are awarded based on the applicant’s academic performance, with minimum qualifying marks prescribed by the authorities.

a. Financial Assistance: 

The scholarship provides financial support to deserving students, enabling them to pursue higher education without being burdened by exorbitant fees and expenses.

By extending support to students from SC, ST, SEBC, EBC, and Minority communities, the scholarship promotes inclusivity and helps bridge the educational gap among different sections of society.

The scholarship scheme encourages academic excellence by rewarding students with exceptional performance and fostering a culture of healthy competition and motivation.

Application Process

To apply for the CMSS Scholarship, eligible candidates can follow these steps:

a. Online Registration: 

Visit the official website ( https://scholarships.gujarat.gov.in/ ) of the CMSS Scholarship and complete the registration process by providing the necessary details.

b. Application Form: 

Fill out the scholarship application form accurately, providing information such as personal details, educational qualifications, and family income.

c. Document Submission: 

Upload the required documents, including educational certificates, domicile certificates, income certificates, and other supporting documents as specified by the authorities.

d. Verification: 

The submitted applications are scrutinized, and the documents are verified to ensure the authenticity of the information provided.

e. Award Disbursement: 

Upon successful verification, the scholarship amount is disbursed directly into the beneficiary’s bank account.
