What is SSC CHSL?

CHSL full form: SSC CHSL stands for Staff Selection Commission – Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination. It is a national-level recruitment exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission to recruit candidates for various posts in government organizations. 

The exam is conducted twice a year, in February and August. The SSC CHSL exam is conducted for the recruitment of three categories of posts in government departments: Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Data Entry Operator (DEO), and Postal Assistants/Sorting Assistants (PA/SA). 

To be eligible for the exam, candidates must have passed 10+2 from any recognized board/institution. The exam consists of a written test (Paper I and Paper II) and a typing test (Paper III). 

Paper I is an objective-type paper comprising General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Language. Paper II is a descriptive paper consisting of Essay, Precis, and Letter Writing. Paper III is the typing test in which the candidates must type a certain number of words within a given time limit. 

The candidates who qualify for the written test will be called for the skill test. The final selection of the candidates is based on their performance in the written examination and the skill test. The minimum qualifying marks for the exam are 33% for the General and EWS categories and 25% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates.

1. Age Limit: The age limit for appearing in the SSC CHSL Exam is 18-27 years as on 1st August 2021. Reserved category candidates will get age relaxation as per the government rules and regulations. 

2. Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university. 

3. Nationality: Candidates must be a citizen of India. 

4. Physical Standards: Candidates must meet specific physical standards to be eligible for the SSC CHSL Exam. 

5. Number of Attempts: There is no restriction on the number of attempts a candidate can make for the SSC CHSL Exam. 

6. Other Requirements: Candidates must also fulfill any other requirements that the SSC may specify from time to time.

The Exam pattern for the SSC CHSL: 

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) is a competitive exam conducted by the Government of India for recruitment to various posts in various Ministries/Departments/Organizations of the Government of India. Exam 

Pattern: The exam pattern for the SSC CHSL consists of three stages: 

• Tier-I: The Tier-I exam is a computer-based test (CBT) comprising multiple choice questions (MCQs). It is held for a duration of 60 minutes and consists of 4 sections – General Intelligence & Reasoning (25 questions of 50 marks), General Awareness (25 questions of 50 marks), Quantitative Aptitude (25 questions of 50 marks), and English Language (25 questions of 50 marks). 

The total number of questions is 100 and the total marks allotted are 200. The exam is conducted in both English and Hindi language. 

• Tier-II: The Tier-II exam is a descriptive paper that is held for 60 minutes and consists of English Language and Comprehension (200-250 words). The total mark allotted is 100. 

• Tier-III: The Tier-III exam is a skill test/typing test conducted to test the candidate’s speed and accuracy in typing. The skill test is conducted for 15 minutes, and the typing test is conducted for 10 minutes. The total mark allotted is 100. 

The final selection of the candidate is based on the marks obtained in all three tiers.

The SSC CHSL exam is conducted in three stages – Tier-I, Tier II, and Tier III. Tier-I and Tier-II are computer-based online exams, while Tier-III is a descriptive test. The syllabus for each stage is different. 

The Tier-I exam tests the candidate’s knowledge of General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Intelligence & Reasoning.

Step 1: Visit the official website of SSC at SSC.nic.in. 

Step 2: On the homepage, click on the ‘Admit Card’ tab. 

Step 3: A new page will appear on the screen where you will have to click on the link for ‘CHSL Exam 2020’. 

Step 4: Now, click on the link for ‘SSC CHSL Admit Card’. 

Step 5: On the next page, enter your registration/roll number and date of birth. 

Step 6: Click on the ‘Submit’ button. 

Step 7: Your SSC CHSL Admit Card will be displayed on the screen. 

Step 8: Download and take a printout of your admit card for future reference.
