The Cutoff Explorer turns the official JoSAA opening-and-closing-rank archive into a tool you can actually use. Choose an institute, a branch and a category, and it shows the opening and closing ranks for every counselling round of the JoSAA 2024 cycle — so you can see exactly how a cutoff loosened from Round 1 to the final round, the round-to-round movement that single-number cutoff lists hide.
How to Use It
- Select an institute — every IIT, NIT, IIIT and GFTI in the JoSAA data is listed.
- Pick a branch from the programs that institute actually offers.
- Choose your category and the year (2024 or 2023).
- Click Show Round-Wise Cutoffs to see opening and closing ranks for every round.
Why Round-Wise Data Matters
Most cutoff articles quote only the final closing rank. That hides the most useful insight: how much a cutoff moves between rounds. If a branch closes at 9,000 in Round 1 but 12,000 by the final round, a candidate at 11,000 should not give up early — that seat historically opened up later. The Explorer makes this movement visible, round by round, so your freeze-or-float decisions during counselling are based on evidence, not nerves.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the JEE cutoff explorer show?
It shows round-by-round opening and closing ranks for any IIT, NIT or IIIT branch and category, using official JoSAA data, for the 2024 and 2023 cycles.
Why do closing ranks change between rounds?
Across JoSAA rounds, candidates withdraw, upgrade and shift seats, so vacated seats go to lower-ranked candidates. This usually loosens the closing rank from Round 1 to the final round.
How recent is the cutoff data?
The explorer uses the JoSAA 2024 cycle — the most recent completed cycle with full round-wise data. Official JEE 2026 closing ranks are generated during JoSAA counselling from 2 June 2026, and this tool will be refreshed then.
