This brick calculator estimates how many bricks you need for a wall, based on the wall volume and a standard modular brick size (190 × 90 × 90 mm) including a 10 mm mortar joint.
Brick Calculator
Formula
Number of bricks = Wall volume ÷ volume of one brick with mortar. A standard brick with mortar occupies 0.2 × 0.1 × 0.1 = 0.002 m³, i.e. about 500 bricks per cubic metre.
How to Use This Calculator
- Enter the wall length, height and thickness in metres.
- Click Calculate to get the number of bricks required.
Worked Example
A wall 10 × 3 × 0.2 m has a volume of 6 m³, needing about 6 × 500 = 3000 bricks.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many bricks are there in 1 cubic metre?
About 500 standard modular bricks (190x90x90 mm) including the mortar joint fit in one cubic metre.
What is the standard brick size in India?
The standard modular brick is 190 x 90 x 90 mm; with a 10 mm mortar joint it is taken as 200 x 100 x 100 mm.
How do you calculate the number of bricks for a wall?
Divide the wall volume (length x height x thickness) by the volume of one brick with mortar (0.002 m3).
